BPSF is accepting applications for the Jeremy O. Torres Emergency Stabilization Fund!
BPSF is a source of support and stability for our local LGBTQIA+ community. If you are a LGBTQIA+ adult, between the ages of 18 and 25, who resides in San Marcos or Hays County and is experiencing an unforeseen financial crisis, BPSF may be able to assist with limited funds. Examples of situations are loss of or under-employment, unexpected medical bills, or insecure housing. If you are impacted by a medical (physical or mental wellness) emergency, natural disaster, transportation costs, loss of support from family, immigration requirements, barriers to legal name changes, or roommate situations negatively impacting you ability to pay rent, apply and we'll help create a safety net and next steps plan..
Please be advised as part of this application you must provide BPSF documentation of proof of residency, documentation of emergency situation, and a copy of a government issued photo I.D. (Driver’s License, Passport (foreign or U.S., or I.D.) in order for your application to be complete. We understand some individuals’ identities may not be affirmed by government issued documentation. BPSF always respects a person’s identity and uses the names and pronouns provided on the application. If you have any questions regarding this process, or if you encounter accessibility issues, please email BPSF at BobcatPrideScholarship@gmail.com.
Upon completion of this application, the BPSF Program Director will text you within 48 hours to set up a brief phone interview to discuss your case. From there, most decisions will be made immediately and, if approved, funds will then be dispersed. Each application is reviewed on a case-by-case basis and additional information may be needed before a final decision is made.
BPSF is primarily funded through generous individual and small business donors, as well as through fundraising activities supported by the local San Marcos and surrounding area communities. Awards are also funded in whole or in part by the City of San Marcos.
Also, BPSF complies with The Privacy Act of 1974 which you can access here.
